Standard Washer Sizes

Residential washers usually fall into two form factors: top-load and front-load. Width is the least variable dimension. Most top-load washers are roughly 27 to 27.75 inches wide, and most front-load washers are 27 inches wide. Height and depth differ more between the types.

Top-load washers in the catalog stand between 41.5 and 46 inches tall. The Whirlpool WTW5057LW is 41.5 inches high, the Maytag MVW6200KW is 42 inches, and the GE Appliances GTW720BSNWS is 46 inches. Their depths range from 27 to 27.5 inches.

Front-load washers are shorter, with heights from 38.75 to 39 inches. The LG WM3400CW is 39 inches tall, and the Samsung WF45B6300AW is 38.75 inches. Their published depths are 30.25 and 31.375 inches, respectively. Because front-load doors swing outward, manufacturers also list a depth-with-door-open measurement: 55 inches for the LG and 52.8125 inches for the Samsung.

Capacity in the dataset runs from 4.5 cu. ft. on the front-load LG and Samsung models to 4.8 cu. ft. on the three top-load washers. Voltage is 120V across all five models. Amperage is either 10A or 15A. This makes standard electrical planning simple, since all five models connect to a normal 120V laundry outlet.
